Russian President Vladimir Putin, L, has held phone talks with US President Barack Obama
(PRESS TV.IR) — Russian President Vladimir Putin has held phone talks with US President Barack Obama over the recent developments in the crisis-hit Syria, despite the two states’ differences over a possible UN Security Council resolution against the Arab country.
Russia has repeatedly said that it opposes any military intervention in Syria, highlighting that it vetoes any resolution on Damascus which allows the use of force in the country.
However, the United States and its Western allies have called on President Bashar al-Assad to step down. (*)
